The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Foundation has awarded a $1,000 grant to Rivier University to support the First-Year Student Day of Service on April 18, 2015. Rivier Board of Trustees member, MDRT grant sponsor Mr. Thomas Space presented a $1,000 check to Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM, President on April 7, 2015.

“We are grateful to the Million Dollar Round Table Foundation for their generous grant and to Mr. Space for his sponsorship and dedication to the University,” says Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM. “This grant supports our mission and reinforces the importance of ongoing, active community service and good citizenship for our students.”

Approximately 225 students participate in the annual First-Year Student Day of Service to provide nearly 700 hours of service to the city’s non-profit organizations, especially those focusing on the needs of at-risk populations. This year, alumni were invited to join together with students to conduct service at organizations including Anne Marie House, Boys and Girls Club of Nashua, Girls Inc. of Greater Nashua, Harbor Homes, The Hunt Community, Nashua Parks and Recreation, Nashua Police Athletics League, The PLUS Company, Salvation Army and the YMCA.

The event is a component of the University’s Student Success: Campus to Community program. This year-long course helps students strengthen their academic skills and promotes cultural awareness, commitment to service and vocational discernment.

The MDRT Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Million Dollar Round Table, the Premier Association of Financial Professionals®. Through its global grants, the MDRT Foundation is committed to building stronger families and communities around the globe. This year, the Foundation will award nearly $1 million in MDRT member-endorsed grants to more than 100 charitable organizations worldwide.
