Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM, Rivier University President
Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM, Rivier University’s President, has been appointed to the New Hampshire Advisory Committee of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC). Working alongside state political, academic, business, military, and faith leaders, Sister Paula will contribute to the dialogue regarding the impact of global issues on America and New Hampshire.
The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition is a civilian-led network of 400 prominent businesses and non-government organizations (NGOs), national security and foreign policy experts, and state community leaders. USGLC’s goal is to utilize diplomatic and developmental tools to increase economic prosperity, protect national security, and strengthen humanitarian values.
“More than 3,000 international students were enrolled in New Hampshire colleges and universities, contributing over $100 million to New Hampshire’s educational institutions and economy this past year,” says Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM. “An ongoing dialogue regarding our global partnerships is vital to maintaining strong relationships with our international neighbors and to advancing our state and national economies.”
Rivier University welcomed more than 200 international graduate students during the 2014-15 academic year. These students came from India, Spain, Kenya, Iran, and China for full-time study at the University. They live off campus in Nashua and contribute to the community economically and culturally.
Among her many community and professional commitments, Buley also serves on the Board of Directors for New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, Catholic Charities of New Hampshire and St. Joseph Hospital. She is also a member of the New Hampshire Higher Education Commission and a New Hampshire College and University Council executive committee member.
