RISE fall course preview scheduled for August 22

NASHUA, N.H.—The Rivier Institute for Senior Education (RISE) Fall Course Preview is scheduled for Friday, August 22, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Demoulas Room of the Benoit Education Center located at Rivier University on Clement Street (off Main Street), in Nashua, N.H. 

Two five-week terms are offered. Term One begins September 8 and ends October 10; Term Two begins October 20 and ends November 21. No learning prerequisites or tests are required. Membership for the ten weeks of courses is $130 and includes computer labs, the use of the Muldoon Health and Fitness Center, the Regina Library, and Dion Dining Hall. 

With a choice of five courses each term, the 64 courses include literature, history, genealogy, music and dance, opera, computer and iPad skills, creating digital slide shows, religion, philosophy and spiritual enrichment, writing, world cultures, current events, and multiple levels of playing mah-jongg and bridge. Courses are not credit bearing. Also included in the fee are choices of moderate exercise and water exercise courses. 

The RISE program, tailored for “learning in retirement”, is in its seventeenth year. Individuals over age 55 are welcome to learn more about RISE, preview courses and register with a check for the fall semester at the course preview.
